Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Apostle and Evangelist, Lima is a Roman Catholic cathedral
The Basilica Cathedral of Lima is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Peru in the Plaza Mayor of downtown Lima. Construction began in 1535, retains facade and colonial structure. The doorway is the phrase and the Peruvian seal than Lima's coat-of-arms. The two high towers are neoclassical with stylistic influences of the school. The front facade are sculpture s of the Apostles in the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the middle. Pope John Paul II visited this cathedral in 1985 on two occasions.
