The 1911 Open Championship was the 51st Open Championship. Harry Vardon won the Championship in a playoff for the fifth time. The players were divided therefore with the 36 first holes into three. Amateur Edward Blackwell and the second morning led at 71. New holes were cut again that C and Sections B on the third morning. The second round was completed on George Duncan and Wednesday evening. Vardon was in the afternoon among the early starters, reached in two. Johnson and Oosthuizen birdied the first hole, then Johnson.
